This house and garage were built in the ‘30s and ‘50s. There is very little storage in either building. With the grandkids visiting often, toys, extra bedding, and other items needed a home outside the house. Plus, there were all the tools and things that normally reside in a garage
The team designed and hung an Elfa system from The Container Store along the back wall for extra storage, added plain white tubs to ‘clean it up’ Meaning, white tubs on a white wall is very relaxing to drive into at the end of the day.

This client moved into a newly custom-built home. They wanted to be organized correctly from the start.
The client has 2 garages, so the team set one up that the kids would use for playing and parking riding toys and one for yard, auto & work tools. The team handled the design, layout and installation of Elfa products from The Container Store. In the kid’s garage, we were able to ‘park’ most of the riding toys in the closet on the back wall. We put umbrellas, extra toys, bags for shopping, etc. in white tubs so that they would drive into a relaxing garage when they came home. The other garage had a closet with double doors at the end, so we hung yard tools on the wall and installed a tool chest and gardening items in the existing drawers.

This is the third house we’ve helped this client with. With this project we were closing out her mother’s home after she passed and moved her into a Highland Park home. This garage is in a second home out of town. The small closet off of the garage is where the HVAC & hot water heater is all contained. It became a catch-all for the family.
There were already built in cubbies in the left-hand wall and drawer storage on the right. Our team helped her purge the items she no longer needed. We then categorized the remaining things that needed to be stored. A good portion of it was long-term save items for the grandkids. We found the largest tubs we could to fit in each cubby.

If items are stored in tubs, the space looks better; the items are protected from the dust, water, and humidity; and they are easier to find once the tubs are labeled and put away.
